Slöyd Experience offers a transformative woodworking journey
The “social emotional lab” nature of the Slöyd classroom provides an approachable environment for a diversity of student learning styles to have a chance to problem solve, overcome mistakes, and learn how to identify and manage emotions.
Our program is designed to be rolling and completely individual in format so that each student can gain maximum benefit from the Slöyd Experience. Our student-to-instructor ratio is a maximum of 8:1 to ensure individual attention and safety.

The Structure
During every session, students immerse themselves in hands-on crafting at their customized workbench. Each is outfitted with a unique set of tools and materials, ranging from hand planes to saws and raw wood.
Our adept instructors guide, demonstrating techniques and methodologies, but ensure the child's creation remains uniquely theirs.
As they navigate the program, students tackle more intricate models, perpetually pushing the boundaries of their skills and personal growth.

Slöyd Experience Canada started in our back yard. A year later we ran a pilot at MakeSpace North Park and filled it up. The kids kept showing up and the waitlist kept growing — proof this is needed here. Now we're building a modular, mobile classroom so we can bring it to schools, homeschool cohorts, and communities across Vancouver Island.
