Carving children's character.

● The Program

Education through purposeful work

Otto Salomon noticed it 150 years ago: children who learn to work wood get better at concentrating, at sticking with hard things, at doing careful work when nobody's watching. He built a teaching method around it, and it spread through schools across Europe and North America.

We teach it the way he intended. One child, one bench, real tools, their own pace. The work is difficult on purpose — never more than a child can handle

"Slöyd, properly taught, will be found to supply an educational value not furnished by the subjects usually taught in schools, and in that sense, we regard its introduction as necessary."

— Otto Salomon
